Bring your own key: why it matters
- You pay the provider, not us. Whatever your provider charges is what it costs, with no reseller margin on top. Some providers offer free tiers; check their current limits.
- Your content goes to one place. The prompt travels from your site to the provider you picked. The free plugin makes no connection to wprank.in at all.
- You choose the model. Use a fast, cheap model for first drafts or a stronger one for important pages, and switch whenever you like. Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works too.
- Test before you write. The Test connection button on the AI Providers screen confirms the key and model work before you spend a generation.
What a generated draft includes
Under AI Writer → Content & Defaults you decide how posts are written:

Use it like a writer, not a printing press
An AI draft is a starting point. Before you publish:
- Check every fact, number and name. Models state wrong things confidently.
- Add what only you know. Your prices, your process, a photo from your own shop floor, a client question you answered last week.
- Cut what does not help the reader. Shorter and correct beats longer and generic.
- Look at the analyser. Fix what it flags, but write for the person first.
Google has said it rewards helpful content however it is produced, and warns against producing pages at scale mainly to rank. Three good articles a month that you have edited properly will do more than fifty you have not read.

Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI and Anthropic (Claude), plus any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you enter yourself. You add your own API key under AI Writer, AI Providers.
How many articles can I generate for free?
Three per calendar month on the free plugin. The counter resets on the 1st, and a generation that fails does not count. The optional Pro add-on removes the cap.
Do you see my content or my API key?
No. The free plugin makes no calls to our servers. Your prompt goes straight from your WordPress site to the provider you chose, using your key, and billing stays between you and that provider.
Can it write in Hindi or other languages?
There is a Language setting under Content and Defaults, so you can ask for Hindi, Gujarati or another language. Output quality depends on the model you pick, so review it like any draft.
Will AI-written posts hurt my rankings?
Google's guidance focuses on whether content is helpful, not on how it was produced. Mass-producing thin pages is the risk. Use the writer for drafts, then add your own facts, examples and experience before publishing.
